We have used large mesh gear for several years now. 150m/m with large mesh square mesh panels.
We have no discards whatsoever and have a very clean fisherie targeting only Plaice. Anchor seineing is a tremendously conservative method of fishing having very low impact on the grounds. In addition it ensures our fuel consumption is also very low.
We fish from Easter to October when the Plaice are in good condition and only in daylight hours, sometimes hauling only 2 to 4 times a day.
